Welcome back to everyone who has been with us on this journey from the beginning! And a warm welcome to all my new readers!
If you feel a little bit lost, let me quickly summarize! In the beginning of June 2020 I decided that, since I couldn’t even find the space to work on my dress projects anymore, it was time for a proper decluttering and make-over of our home.
If you would like to know how everything began, please check out my initial post on this Clean & Declutter Challenge.
A Mori Home for a Mori Girl!
I did it! The living room is complete. Our fifth week of cleaning and decluttering was all in all pretty easy-going. I got a lot of rest, completed our checklist and brought our house one huge step closer to my Mori Home.
I think we all need that feeling of accomplishment every once in a while. It is so important to keep the motivation going and if we only pile tasks on more tasks without any positive outcome it is rather counter productive. Even small successes boost our mood and motivation and make us go forward, ready to tackle the next challenge.
Accomplishment makes us happy and happiness is an awesome booster!
Before I go deeper into telling you my little success story, here is that little reminder that you can join this challenge too! Just download the free clean & declutter checklist templates and start any time you like!

This week’s video is rather short but sweet! ✿♥‿♥✿ You will get to see some of the classic cleaning, as well as some more organizing and furniture moving, but the main event is definitely the unveiling and applying of my new wall stickers, so you should definitely stick around till the end!
WEEK 5 of our Clean & Declutter Challenge
So, let me quickly summarize day one:
As I mention in my Week 4 post, I got up at 5.30AM, practices my motorcycle skills for about one and a half hours, then did my handling test and… PASSED!
After that I did some shopping, went home, gave Cami her lunch and went to take a nice long nap together with her! (◡‿◡✿)
I really needed that nap…
In the afternoon I finished editing and posting last week’s video and blog post. Then I went to work.
And that was day one in a nutshell. I am so glad this week’s declutter checklist was less demanding.
The second day was spent with still browsing for that perfect TV stand. I realized already a while back that I would like to bit by bit change all of our existing living room furniture to Acacia wood pieces.
I have simply completely and utterly fallen in love with the look of Acacia. (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡
However, even second hand it is sadly still quite expensive. Therefore this is a long term plan rather than something that I could just accomplish in one week.
But that didn’t mean, I couldn’t look for one piece, namely the TV stand. And so that is what I did most of my Tuesday.
Finally back to our checklist and boy did I work! （●＾U＾●）
I managed to cross off half of the tasks listed! Okay, I admit, it wasn’t that hard, considering that this week’s checklist was quite kind.
There is really not much I can tell you guys. I believe that the video below tells a much better story about our Week 5 living room adventure, than what I could type up here.
Remember to watch from beginning to end or you might miss something!
Day 4 & Day 5
The fourth day was yet another day where I actually managed to take a little nap together with my baby girl.
Sometimes you don’t even realize how much you lack sleep, until you finally get to catch up.
The later afternoon I spent on social media platforms! (Gotta keep all angles covered, right!?)
Day five was somewhat more productive. I sorted through all my paper work that had been piling up in all the wrong places and I managed to acquire a new DVD shelf for us. (⌒▽⌒)☆
The biggest accomplishment of the day, however, was probably the fact that all my ad browsing finally paid off.
I found an Acacia TV stand!!! FOR FREE!
On the morning of day six I went to work by public transportation, which is unusual, because I mostly have the car when going to work. Then again, this day was a bit different, because while I was at work my husband took our toddler on a little road trip…
Yup, you got it! He went to pick up our newest furniture addition!
They picked me up when my work shift ended and when we got home, I was immediately busy with setting up space in the living room for our pretty, new Acacia wood TV stand!.
I think the most painful task of the day was detaching and reattaching all those cables A SECOND TIME. ヘ(>_<ヘ)
When everything was finally set in place, I took a little break. Then I decided to record the final parts of this week’s video. I chose to do it on Saturday this time for a reason, because I was finally able to put up my first wall stickers! And I wanted to share this part with all of you as directly as possible!
As you might’ve guessed, day seven I am right now sitting here, writing this, while simultaneously editing the video you get to watch when you scroll down.
Breaking the fourth wall of blogging right now, I can tell you that, as I am writing this, our seventh day is of course not over yet, and there is still one thing on our checklist left to do.
The gates for our stairs have to go up today still.
Cami has become way too interested in going up and down stairs, so this is a must that can and should not be delayed. Of course I hope that we can check this last box on our Week 5 list still today, but since this is something I don’t want to do without my husbands help (it needs drilling, and screwing, and holding in place, so two sets of hands are better than one), it might have to be left until tomorrow.
And that sums up our fifth week in our Clean & Declutter Challenge. Now watch that video! And check out those gorgeous wall stickers!! (*^-^)
Living Room Beautification in Week 5 – From Mess to Mori Home:
I hope by the end of Week 6 the rest of our house will be as beautiful as our living room turned out!
I do have to admit, though it might not have been so visible in the video, getting those stickers up was really hard… . With the next ones I will probably ask one of my boys to help. （・□・；）
What do you think about the Acacia wood TV stand?
I just love the contrast between the dark wood and the pink blossoms on the wall. I can’t wait to switch out the rest of the furniture, but I am sure that’ll take a lot more time than 6 weeks. We are on a budget after all!! (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡
Have you guys already gotten yourselves some of those pretty stickers?
Check out the links below and you might find some inspiration for your own home! (⌒▽⌒)☆ Please leave me some comments, if you decided to get any, or tell me about your favorite wood! I would love to know more about your likes! Maybe you could even suggest something for me.
Here are, as promised the pictures of the stickers I got last with a link to where you can buy them or others, if you like:
Sadly the first two are not the ones I got! I could not find the links anymore, so instead I decided to show you some other gorgeous options that I have considered getting.
Don’t forget to download the new checklist template for Week 6, it’s our final week and I hope you are all on board!. You can also download the templates for the previous weeks! Just click on the links at the beginning of this post.
