Welcome back to everyone who has been with us on this journey from the beginning! And a warm welcome to all my new readers!
If you feel a little bit lost, let me quickly summarize! In the beginning of June 2020 I decided that, since I couldn’t even find the space to work on my dress projects anymore, it was time for a proper decluttering and make-over of our home.
If you would like to know how everything began, please check out my initial post on this Clean & Declutter Challenge.
Sometimes you have to fail to succeed.
This week went much smoother all together. I definitely learned from my mistakes of the previous week. As our declutter challenge continues, I have learned that it is important to take some time off in between and re-charge.
I guess, everyone has those moments where they take on too much at once and then get burned out. The way I got through it this week was that I decided to take a day off from cleaning and decluttering, and chores in general, and focused on one much more important thing:
Spending some much needed quality time with my kids.
I will tell you more about everything that has happened in this week shortly, but first here is a little reminder that you can join this challenge too! Just download the free clean & declutter checklist templates and start any time you like!

Don’t forget to watch the video for this week’s accomplishments. Halfway through you’ll even get to see a little scene from our day off! ✿♥‿♥✿ And now let me break down Week 3 into more detail for you…
WEEK 3 of our Clean & Declutter Challenge
The week started off with me taking care of a lot of chores in the house, none of them actually listed on my Week 3 checklist (⌒_⌒;), so yet again I never actually got around to starting with our third week. However, this time it didn’t matter so much, because one of the things I was working on on day one, was going through Cami’s clothes and taking everything out that had already become to small for her to wear. This fell perfectly in line with catching up on some of the things that were left undone in week two.
I also went to the post office to pick up a package. Can you guess what it was? Exactly!
I got my first wall stickers! (★^O^★)
At the end of this week’s video you get see me unbox said stickers. At the moment of unwrapping the package I didn’t actually know which stickers I had received or what to expect. Of course, I could have check my delivery information, but this way, my reaction in front of the camera is completely genuine. I believe sometimes it is a good thing to preserve a little bit of the mystery.
The second day went exactly as it was supposed to. I went through all of our shoes, tossed the broken ones, cleaned out our shoe shelf and sorted through the different sizes.
There is not really much else I can tell you about day two.
As our beautifying project and declutter challenge continues, I am still open to the idea of getting a new/used proper shoe cabinet. The shelf that we have been using until now is still in a pretty good condition. It does the job perfectly, but aesthetically speaking, it is not the prettiest. However, I am also looking into new furniture options for the upcoming living room project. Also, our budget is limited, so I am not sure if I want change the shoe shelf just yet.
Even with all these plans of re-arranging and re-modelling the house, it is very important not to overspend.
A more frugal and minimalist approach is definitely the better way to go in this situation. Thrift/second hand is still a possibility, though it might have to wait a bit.
Day three I emptied out our entryway closet , as well as the entrance. I cleared out all those winter jackets, hats and scarves that at least for the next few months nobody needs.
The amount of other non-clothes related things I found in that closet was rather amazing. Some things, like rain coats and umbrellas definitely belong there. So do the jacket I made for our Doggo and her reflective vest.
The same does NOT apply to sports gear, baby pram accessories that are no longer in use, a pair of crutches…the list goes on.
I also found bicycle repair parts and a lot of shoe cleaning supplies, which I decided to give a new home to.
On this week’s fourth day I changed our checklist a little bit.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, having a day off is really good sometimes. And so, instead of cleaning and scrubbing and sorting and tossing, I decided to take the kids to the beach! (⌒▽⌒)☆
We had a lovely day out, enjoyed the warm summer sun and the cool water!
I should maybe also point out that the part of the checklist that we changed was taking care of the workout corner. Now, in my defense, our workout corner is actually situated in the back of our living room. I couldn’t really access it during this last week, so I thought it would be a smarter idea to take care of it together with the living room.
Day five went as planned.
I started by bringing a few boxes to our storage while the kids were working on other chores in the house. Then we went grocery shopping and at the same time I used the opportunity to drop off all the things I was going to donate at our nearest second hand store.
More space, less clutter and more room to work as the declutter challenge continues.
And so it did. When we got home and after putting all the groceries away I immediately went to work on our tool closet (which in reality stores much more than tools and was a huge mess).
It took me almost 3 hours to get through the chaos and bring in some much needed order and organization.
Day 6 & Day 7
The better part of day six as well as day seven I spent at work. The rest of the evenings, pretty much until right now, as I am writing this, I focused on editing the footage I had collected throughout the week, and finishing up my post. And this concludes our third Clean & Declutter Challenge Week. (◕‿◕✿)
If you don’t want to miss out on the big reveal and my reaction to our new wall stickers, make sure you watch the video to the end!! (*^-^)
Back on Track – Week 3 – The Declutter Challenge Continues:
Oh my, Cami was just so adorable!
I wish I would’ve had more footage of us at the beach, especially since it was her very first time, but sadly my hands were full with the toddler, so there was no possibility to record. （ｉДｉ）
Did you like the stickers? I just simply love them!
I can’t wait to get the rest and I am now more than ever convinced that I will still order more! (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡
