Yes, the second week was a declutter challenge fail.
Well, it didn’t completely fail, I did get a lot of things done, but we did not complete our checklist.
I have made some progress, but as you guys probably know, time management is hard.
Just like last time I will get a little bit more into the details of what was going on during this second week. And just like before, I would like to remind all of you that you can join in on our challenge at any time. You can download the free clean & declutter checklist templates and start whenever you feel like it!
You can find WEEK 1 here.
And the link for WEEK 2 here.

WEEK 2 of our Clean & Declutter Challenge
On day one I was still working on editing the video for the first week of our declutter challenge ｡･ﾟﾟ･(>д<)･ﾟﾟ･｡, so I basically never got around to even starting with all the chores for our second week. At that point I should have probably already guessed that Week 2 would be a declutter challenge fail. It took me a whole day longer to edit and post the video for Week 1.
I’m so sorry about bringing it out late.
On the second day I was supposed to start with our bathrooms but that never happened. I got up early enough in the morning, however, by the time that William finally managed to take care of Cami, I had to leave for my motorcycle lesson (yes I am actually learning to ride a motorcycle at the moment).
I planned to still do things in the house when I got back from my lesson, but yet again my plans got interrupted, this time by the fact that I had to rush to the pharmacy to get a lotion for Xander’s sunburned back.
Time went by so fast that instead of starting on any of our two bathrooms, I left for work.
Day three didn’t look much better. Off to another motorcycle lesson I went and when I got back I again didn’t get around to anything. I honestly don’t even remember what interfered this time. Maybe I was just too tired. (Ｔ▽Ｔ)
On the fourth day, Thursday, I finally started to work on our checklist.
I focused mainly on our upstairs bathroom, while Xander helped out with the unruly toddler. Sorting through and cleaning out the cupboards, I organized everything, tossed out any old lotion or empty shampoo bottle, scrubbed the shower from top to bottom and washed the floor.
In between I had to feed Cami and put her down for her nap, and before I knew it, it was evening and the upstairs bathroom was the only thing I got done.
Day five was the day of our bedroom decluttering. I started as early in the morning as I could. William was a huge help this time around. He took care of Cami almost the whole day, while I was busy with our room.
You can see my accomplishments with our closet in the video below, please check it out.
Now it should mention that on day six, which was yesterday, I didn’t really do anything either, besides going to work early in the morning. When I got home, I was so tired and exhausted, the only thing I was still able to work on was editing this week’s video.
Day seven, the last day of our second Clean & Declutter Challenge Week, began with another morning shift at work. And ended with me editing and writing this… (◕‿◕✿)
The things that are still left undone are:
- The downstairs bathroom, which I did manage to get halfway done.
- The linen closet, which I actually decided to check off the checklist, because after looking at it, I realized that it’s probably the only thing in our house that does not need any decluttering or organizing right now. It is in rather good shape.
- The medicine cabinets, which don’t really need that much work, since we regularly toss out expired medicine and usually take care of keeping it up-to-date.
- And, as you can see in our video in my video, there were also things left undone in our bedroom.
The tasks that are still left in our bedroom now, are my husband’s desk (it’s probably the smallest of all issues at this point), the shelves on top of the cabinets and the things under our bed, which are not many, so it will take a very short time to sort through those.
The bookshelf I can do at the same time as I do then the living room, because I’ve decided already that some of the books that are right now in the living room will go into our bedroom, so I will just, over the next weeks, bit-by-bit continue the small things in the master bedroom as we go along. Hopefully I get it ready by the time that I want to beautify with wall stickers.
I decided not to move any furniture right now, since we’re not entirely sure yet, if we’re maybe still changing shelves or perhaps we’re just leaving our bedroom the way it is.
Now please, go ahead and enjoy the video! (*^-^)
Decluttering the Bedroom – Week2 Declutter Challenge FAIL:
So… how was it? Do you consider it a total fail?
Even though we didn’t complete our checklist this time, it doesn’t mean we won’t get all those chores done within our six-week limit. So I don’t think it is a fail as such, just a little setback.
Have you guys started decluttering in your house?
If so, have you been able to keep up with the timetable or do you have a declutter challenge fail in your closet? (⌒▽⌒)☆ Please leave me some comments and let me know about it!
I do hope the video gave you a little look into the progress that we actually made. I’m pretty sure that I can still show you the rest of our bedroom when the time comes and the whole house will be done, but for now this was our Clean & Declutter Challenge Week 2.
Don’t forget to download the new checklist template for Week 3 and I’ll see you guys next week. Hopefully this time with a fully completed checklist.. And remember, you can also download the templates for the previous weeks! Just click on the links at the beginning of this post.
